RELIQUARY

This reliquary is intended to receive the relic of a saint. A relic may be a body part, garment, or object that belonged to this saint.

Originally from the Trois-Rivières parish church, this object was salvaged just in time, before the terrible fire that raged in the city on June 22, 1908, also destroyed this place of worship.

The term reliquary has evolved over the years, and these days, it may refer to any container or case that allows the ashes of a deceased person to be preserved.
