Here is a nail found among the ruins of the Immaculate Conception parish church in Trois-Rivières after the fire that destroyed a substantial portion of the city of Trois-Rivières on June 22, 1908.
This church had been built in 1714 under the administration of Father Joseph Denys, the first Recollect of Canadian origin, who had been the superior and priest of the Immaculate Conception parish of Trois-Rivières between 1710 and 1717.
Called Father Joseph Denys (1657-1736) since joining the Recollects, his real name was Jacques Denys de La Ronde. He was the brother of Marie-Louise Denys de La Ronde, from whom the Musée Pierre-Boucher has a very old painting.
