KEY

Here is the key to one of the cells located in the basement of the courthouse in Trois-Rivières.

After working as a carpenter, André Courteau joined law enforcement as a police officer around 1890.

He married Anne Cadorette in 1874. One of their daughters, Georgiana Courteau, born November 14, 1880, worked at the Balcer Glove Mfg. Co. (1913-1914) before getting married to Joseph Henry Meyers, chief electrician at Canadian International Paper.

Kept within the Meyers family as a treasure, this key was given to the Musée Pierre-Boucher by the archives department of the Séminaire de Trois-Rivières, which had received it on August 24, 1998, from Annette Meyers, the sister of Georges Meyers. The latter had been the director of the Société Saint-Jean-Baptiste de la Mauricie for several years.
